Submission 70
Preamble
This is just a short discourse, recognising that there will be several submissions to review.
In 1966 Barbados was gifted a Constitution and a continuation of the Westminster system of government. This has outlived its usefulness for our own democracy, which ought to seek ways to include more people in the decision-making process. It is expected that this will have the corollary effects of greater buy-in and respect by citizens. For certain, the decreasing levels of participation witnessed right now ought to be a cause for concern. This revision process is a prime opportunity to address the slide, and to create a system that is fit for our own purpose.
