Discussion Paper on the Constitutional Amendments
to
Establish Barbados
as a
Republic
If the move to a Republic is considered only in the context of removing a Governor General who represented the British Monarch, and replacing that office with the office of a ceremonial Head of State in the form of a President who does not represent or report to the British Monarch, then it is an exercise that has no practical effect on the daily lives of the Barbadian people or the governance of their affairs.
