To Whom It May Concern,

I am the owner and operator of a child care facility that caters to children with Special Needs. I am taking this opportunity to let my voice be heard as I would like to assist in the constitutional reform. I am willing to be a part or join any committee to make a difference in not only the lives of the Special Needs community but the Barbadian population at large.

UNICEF has the convention for the rights of the child, and I know that we have adopted this into or constitution however we need to now implement the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

There are several rights that ni my experience working with Special Needs and Persons with Disabilities that we are not doing in this country. For example: workplaces are encouraged to employ at least one person with a disability or special need and make some provisions to accommodate them. Persons with disabilities should be provided with the same level of acceptance and into society as others for they are human too. Education should be provided not to babysit but to help these persons be productive members of society, who can work, pay taxes and enjoy life

I would really appreciate the opportunity to further discuss the issues facing the Special Needs and Disable Community
